Our school celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day with gaiety. Vice Chairman Major MGC Nair and Executive Trustee Dr. P Sreekumar partook in the celebrations. The day’s celebrations began with Parthiv, a standard 1 student hoisting the National flag. Dr. S. Thanuja’s message reminded all of the sacrifices and the contributions made by our leaders to give us the freedom we enjoy today. Adin M Illath delivered the speech given by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Riyan Paul Varghese enthralled the audience with his disquisition on India’s major achievements in the past 75 years. The variety entertainment programmes of the day included a Bengali song and a skit titled ‘Jhanda Uncha Rahe Hamara’ which focused on the lives of four freedom fighters – Birsa Munda, Khudiram Bose, Kanaklta Barua and Kaumudi teacher. The day’s celebrations ended with the distribution of sweets to parents, students and staff of the school. Various other events in connection with Independence Day celebrations like quiz for standard 1 and 2 and house-wise chart making on different themes for standard 9 to 12 were also conducted. An exhibition of portraits of our leaders drawn by our students was arranged and an e-album which included 75 indelible snippets was published.
