Silver jubilee year is a remarkable milestone for any institution.Formally launched in Dec 2014,rededication and thanks giving was the vision for our celebration. A logo designing competition was held at school for the occasion. The logo born out of the creativity of Madhavi Krishnan of std XII was selected. This was released by Mrs Geetha Krishna Balan our former Vice Principal during the senior Annual day 2014.

Smrithipadham

In connection with the Silver Jubilee celebration, ‘Smrithipadham’, a get-together of former Vidyodayan teachers was held on March 15, 2015 from 10.a.m. to 3.p.m. at Vidyodaya school, Thevakkal. Teachers who were part of Vidyodaya right from its inception, along with many others who moulded and chiselled Vidyodaya to her present glory turned up in large numbers. They were excited and Jubilant to see the institution’s development. All the teachers were honoured and given mementos as part of our love and gratitude. A slide show about the ‘History of Vidyodaya’ was presented, followed by games, quiz etc. A thread of camaraderie tethered the group together making the bond stronger. Teachers shared their thoughts and wonderful experiences right from their heart. A beautiful Sunday, the 15th of March 2015 will be marked in the history of Vidyodaya as a day of friendship, gratitude, bonhomie, loyalty and above all the love for the ’25 year old Vidyodaya’.

Kathasagar

A month long story session was conducted in the nursery from 2nd July to 23rd July in connection with the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Vidyodaya school. Mr.Sippy Pallipuram inaugurated the event. Eminent personalities like Mr. Ruben Dcruz, Mr. John Paul along with the grand parents of our students narrated stories and interacted with our children. Ms. Annie Cherical, former teacher-in-charge, Vidyodaya nursery concluded the ‘Kathatsagar’ programme by narrating a story.

Parinaya.

It was gala time for Vidyodaya on 11th September 2015 but one with a difference: The school took a marked departure from the usual pomp and show connected with Silver Jubilee Celebration and made a sincere attempt to serve the people in distress. Parinaya, a community wedding was organised, wherein the nuptials of five couples from socially unprivileged strata was solemnised on the school campus in the presence of the kith and kin of the brides and grooms and distinguished guests from different walks of life. This noble act was possible with the concerted effort of the Vidyodaya Management, staff, parents, alumni, students and all other well wishers. All the expenses for the wedding including jewellery, (5 sovereigns to each bride) costumes (for the bride, groom and their parents) and conveyance were borne by the school. The guests were treated to a sumptuous feast and the brides were sent off with a trousseau that would suffice a year.

MBRACE

A module on education –Module of Boat Race and child education was released by our patron Sri.Joseph Thomas IPS. This is a unique module that draws striking parallels between schooling and Kerala’s renowned Boat Race. Preparations for a boat race beginning from the making of the boat is compared to that of a toddler entering the portals of an educational institution. This module has been conceptualized and visualized by Vidyodaya and is dedicated to the society.

The development of our neighbourhood reflects the development of our Institution .250 books and Rs .25,000 has been donated to Thevakkal Janakeeya Vayanasala which is engaged in spreading the light of knowledge to the local community.

The old and the needy are taken care of when our students share food with the inmates of orphanages and old age homes. They return with empty vessels but with heartful of lingering love and compassion.

March 15,2015 ,our former Teaching staff had a get together, ‘Smritipadam’ at Vidyodaya .They shared their reminiscences ,experiences,and above all the confidence they gained through the Faculty Improvement Training programmes at Vidyodaya that left the audience in awe.The day long programme was signed off with refreshed memories and renewed friendships.

Vidyodaya Innovation Nurture scheme [VINS] was inaugurated on July 6th,2015,by Dr Chandrasekhan Nair,Principal consultant ,KITCO. Astudent start up, the first of its kind in the country wherein students are kindled with the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. Students are exposed to mentor talks where they interact with resource persons who equip them with their rich experience.30 students from classes 8,9 and 11 are the lucky members who also attend workshops and seminars that enhance their creativity.This is venture in collaboration with KITCO for a better tomorrow.

Margadarshi ,a course guidance programme was conducted by Vidyodaya to help students of the government schools of class 9 and 10 to identify their aptitude and skills . Around 200 students participated and were enlightened by the resource persons, Mr.Kurian and Dr.Asha Thomas.The programme was held on July 29,2015 and was inaugurated by sri. Christy Fernades IAS.

Students of Vidyodaya played their part to perfection by presenting an indepth study on careers such as Mass Communication ,Supply Chain Management ,Urban Development and Ethical Hacking to name some.Yet another Vidyodayan endeavor towards community welfare.

The tiny tots of the Nursery built their walls of strength by presenting ‘Kathasagar’ a programme that commemorated the Silver Jubilee of Vidyodaya when 25 stories narrated by eminent personalities like Sri.John Paul,Sippi Pallipuram , grand parents , parents and the teachers.The programme was inaugurated by Sri.Sippi Pallipuram.

Nov 1st 2015 was aday set apart by Vidyodaya exclusively for the parents. Sangamam had 130 parents exhibiting their talents in Music,Dance,Quiz,Craft, Painting and Sports events. They took home fond remembrances and bonding.

Loyal Services leave their mark even if the employee is out of the institution .
‘Smritipadam’ for the nonteaching staff was held on Dec 12,2015.Though busy in their own fields of expertise ,they returned to the portals of Vidyodaya without hesitation to express their continuous support and friendship. They were suitably honoured.

Not a little less nor a little more ,these activities will not be kept aside as that of yore…they are the stepping stones for a successful journey ahead, the guiding light for the young generation on whose onus the future lies.
