Landmark Achievements

• Geography Fest (2001 -02)

Anything that is taught is usually forgotten but anything that is learnt is often retained. This was one of the many reasons, which motivated the Social Science teachers headed by the Principal who is teaching Geography in Std.X for many years to have a Geography fest in our school in July for 3 successive days. One main reason was to have an “Effective Reinforcement”. Generally students of Std.X were kept away from all other activities. In Geography fest the whole procedure was divided in to three stages – Preparatory Phase, Action Phase and Analysis Phase.

• VIDTECH (2003 -04 )

In the computer fest organized by Computer department and class XI students in which 15 schools participate. Mr. Varghese Paul, HOD, IT Department, CUSAT, inaugurated the fest and enlightened the students on ‘Career Prospects in IT’. A ‘Quiz competition on IT’ and a hardware exhibition were also part of the fest.

• ISO Certification (2005 – 06)

‘Vidyodaya school ‘- A heritage of Vision, a legacy of innovation, a busy, diverse and energetic place, has attained the present stature and significance from very humble beginnings. Our school has been awarded the ISO 9001-2000 certificate in March 2005 – a major mile stone in our journey towards excellence and a stepping stone towards Total Quality Management.

• Kayikotsav (2005 -06)

The ‘Kayikotsav ‘, an inter school sports awareness and appreciation camp organized by Vidyopdaya was inaugurated by Mrs.Shiny Wilson and Mr.Wilson Cherian. There were workshops, seminars and interactive sessions with eminent sports personalities. The school has added to the sports facilities by opening a new basket ball court, inaugurated by Mr. Subhash Shenoy, the eminent basket ball player.

• Ayodhana Yoga (2005 – 06)

An all Kerala Inter school martial arts competition was hosted by the school. Competitions were held in a series of martial arts like Judo, Kalari, Karate and Yoga. This camp serves as a platform for the students to exhibit their skills in martial arts.

• Visit to Rashtrapathi Bhavan (2006 – 07)

It has been a dream comes true for 34 Vidyodayan students and 5 teachers, when we could meet His Excellency, the President of India Shri. A.P.J Abdul Kalam on 29th9 December 2006 at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan, New Delhi. The lively interactive session with the President left an indelible impression in our mind. Certainly, it was a golden opportunity in our life time.

• Shilpa Chaitriki (2007 – 08)

Vidyodaya Art And Craft Fest- 2007 on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1st a unique programme organized to honour the various gurus in art and craft field. The various workshops and exhibitions held in connection with Shipa Chaitriki though light into many of the rare artistic talents and also provided opportunities for acquaintance and interaction with great artisans.

• Best Yi NET (2007 -08)

Our students attended a summit organized by YI at Goa and this had given a new dimension to the outlook of children and also helped to expand the horizon of their social interaction. Vidyodaya School was awarded the Best Yi NET for 2007 at the 4th Yi National Summit held on 16th February 2008, Chennai.

• Veega Land Award (2008 – 09)

The prestigious Environment Award instituted by Veega Land for the Best Environment friendly school, was presented to Vidyodaya by the Tourism Minister Sri. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

• JALATHARANGAM (2009 – 10)

Samples of drinking water from Thevakkal village were collected by our students and tested for its purity. We secured a special price for this venture jointly instituted by the Government of Kerala and Malayala  Manorama.

• SEED (2010 – 11)

Understanding and addressing key issues in our environment Students Empowerment for Environmental Development Project, launched by Mathrubhumi and Labour India was inaugurated by Prof. V. Seetharaman (Adi Shankara University, Kalady) on the 2nd of July. Students took an oath to protect the environment and saplings were planted in the campus. ‘Thulasivanam’ Project was launched in connection with this programme. The entire management, staff and students of Vidyodaya were fully involved in the implementation of the project. Greening and cleaning activities inside and outside the campus which include planting of saplings and waste management, water conservation, study trip, public awareness etc. were the highlights of this project. About 250 schools in the Ernakulam Educational District participated in the project and we were adjudged the BEST SCHOOL in the district. Our teacher co-ordinator Ms. Sindhu. M. S received the coveted BEST TEACHER CO-ORDINATOR title.

• Encon Award (2010 – 11)

We won the Encon Award for the Best Environment Friendly School, instituted by Veega Land Water Theme Park.

  • “Shreshta Haritha Vidyalaya Award” 2018-19
    As a part of Mathrubhumi SEED (Student Empowerment for Environmental Education)project, Vidyodaya school achieves the best Shreshta Haritha Vidyalaya Award-for the second consecutive time.The school also receives the award for the best butterfly park in the district.
